Terms of Use

Last updated October 21, 2026

’splore is a personal side project, offered free, exactly as it is. By using it you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use it.

What This Is, and What It Is Not

’splore compares travel destinations on climate, landscape, and other characteristics. It is a research and browsing toy built for personal use and shared as a courtesy.

’splore is served from duavecito.daveponet.workers.dev — an earlier name for the same project, and still its address.

It is not a travel agency, a booking service, a tour operator, an insurer, or an advisor of any kind. Nothing on it is professional advice. It is not travel advice, not legal advice, not safety advice, not medical advice, and not financial advice. No relationship of any kind is created by your using it.

Accuracy, and Why You Must Not Rely on It

Much of what is shown is modelled or estimated, not measured. Temperatures come from reanalysis on a coarse grid and are known to run cold along coastlines. Climate figures are averages of the past; they are not a forecast and say nothing about what the weather will do on your dates. Travel times, opening hours, prices, sea temperatures, and descriptions may be incomplete, out of date, or simply wrong.

Safety information especially. This site shows where same-sex activity is criminalized, drawn from a third-party source. It is included because it matters, not because it is authoritative, and it may be incomplete, out of date, or wrong.

Verify anything that bears on your safety, your liberty, or your health against an official primary source before you travel. Do not make a decision that matters on the strength of this site alone.

No undertaking is given that any figure, name, date, link, or description is correct, current, or complete.

Provided As Is, With No Warranty

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITH ALL FAULTS AND WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY. ALL WARRANTIES ARE DISCLAIMED TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, INCLUDING THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, ACCURACY, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

There is no promise that the service will be available, uninterrupted, secure, timely, or error-free, that any defect will be corrected, or that it will continue to exist at all.

Limitation of Liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE OPERATOR SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGES OF ANY KIND ARISING FROM OR CONNECTED TO YOUR USE OF, OR INABILITY TO USE, THE SERVICE. THIS INCLUDES DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, AND PUNITIVE DAMAGES, AND INCLUDES WITHOUT LIMITATION LOST OR CORRUPTED DATA, LOST PROFITS, WASTED EXPENDITURE, TRAVEL COSTS, MISSED TRAVEL, AND ANY INJURY, LOSS, OR HARM SUFFERED WHILE TRAVELING. THIS APPLIES EVEN IF THE OPERATOR HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES, AND REGARDLESS OF THE THEORY OF LIABILITY.

Where liability cannot lawfully be excluded, the operator’s total aggregate liability for all claims is limited to one hundred US dollars (US$100).

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions or limitations, so parts of the two sections above may not apply to you. In that case they apply as far as the law allows.

Your Account and Your Data

Sign-in is handled by Google. You are responsible for your own Google account and for anything done through it on this site.

Keep nothing here you cannot afford to lose. Saved places may be lost, reset, or deleted at any time, through fault, accident, or ordinary maintenance, and no backup is promised. Your account may be suspended or removed at any time, for any reason or for none, without notice.

What is collected and how it is handled is set out in the Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.

Suggesting a Place

Anyone with an account can suggest a place. By sending one, you give permission for it, and for what you wrote about it, to be used to research and describe the place on this site — quoted, edited, summarised, or not used at all.

There is no obligation to review a suggestion within any particular time, to add it, to explain a decision, or to credit you. A suggestion may be declined or removed for any reason or for none.

Only send what you have the right to share. Do not paste somebody else’s writing or photographs, and do not include anybody’s personal information.

Acceptable Use

Do not use the service unlawfully. Do not attempt to reach another person’s account or data, attack or overload the service, probe it for vulnerabilities, scrape it wholesale, or misrepresent it as your own or as something official.

Other People’s Content

Photographs come from Wikimedia Commons under their own licenses and are credited on each card. Map tiles are supplied by Esri and its data providers. Destination information draws on UNESCO and other public sources.

That material remains the property of its owners and is governed by their terms, not these. None of those organizations endorses, sponsors, or is affiliated with this site. If you own material shown here and want it removed, write to hello@splore.life and it will be taken down.

Changes, and Ending the Service

The operator reserves the right to change, replace, or withdraw these terms and the Privacy Policy at any time, at its sole discretion, and without notice. A revised version takes effect as soon as it is posted here, and the date at the top changes with it. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the version then posted. If you do not accept it, stop using the site.

The service itself may likewise be changed, restricted, suspended, or shut down entirely at any time, for any reason or for none, without notice and without liability.

Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute arising from or connected to these terms or the service shall be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in California, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.

If any provision is held unenforceable, the rest remains in force.
